September 2019

Mobile Coach, the leading chatbot solution for learning and development professionals, was recently awarded three coveted Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards:

  1. Gold Award for “Best Advance in Learning Technology Implementation” with Ecolab
  2. Gold Award for “Best Use of Mobile Learning” with Microsoft and GP Strategies
  3. Bronze Award for “Best Use of Mobile Learning” with Akamai Technologies

“We are very honored to add these three prestigious awards to our growing collection,” said Paul Bills, Director of Chatbot Design at Mobile Coach. “These awards are a meaningful recognition of the incredible work our team does with our client organizations. Along with our partners, we are excited about the future of chatbot technology in learning and talent development.”

Ecolab and Mobile Coach

Winning Gold, Mobile Coach’s collaboration with Ecolab was titled “Building Manager Muscle Through Chatbot Reinforcement.” Launched globally in October 2017, Coach Colin (the chatbot) supports Ecolab’s Manager Essentials training.

Colin reinforces training and supports new managers in the United States, France, Singapore, Australia, China, UAE, India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and more. Messages sent through SMS, Telegram, and LINE give Ecolab managers tasks designed to improve implementation of their Manager Essentials training.

In 2018, more than 1,200 managers completed the Manager Essentials program along with the Coach Colin reinforcement track. Thanks to Mobile Coach’s chatbot technology, Ecolab has compelling data to indicate that participants are following through on their learning commitments and completing the leadership development program.

Coach Colin had a high level of engagement with users with a more than 80% response rate to interactions. Users also reported an average of 60% completion rate for assigned tasks. Additionally, during feedback surveys 75% of users rated Colin as “helpful” or “very helpful.”

Microsoft, GP Strategies and Mobile Coach

Another project that won Gold was “Adding Personalized Mobile Engagement to the MOOC Experience” by Microsoft and GP Strategies with Mobile Coach. Coach Alex was launched globally in January 2018. Supporting users from every major region in the world, Coach Alex uses SMS, LINE, Telegram, Facebook, VK and WeChat to communicate with learners.

Coach Alex supports a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) within Microsoft called Story Impact. The course helps managers learn how to better manage and lead through better storytelling. Coach Alex helps ensure people take the course and complete each section, as well as help them reflect on what they’ve learned and achieved during the course.

Across two separate test groups, learners who had Coach Alex’s help were up to 20% more likely to complete the class, 20% less likely to drop out or disengage, and 30% more likely to score highly in the class.

Akamai Technologies and Mobile Coach

The Avi chatbot is a joint project between Akamai Technologies and Mobile Coach. This collaboration was titled “Avi – The Akamai New Employee Onboarding Chatbot” and was awarded a Bronze Award. Avi is available in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and many more to support new employees in attaining their Technical Primer Certification.

In a survey of Avi users, 70% of survey respondents rated Avi as either “helpful” or “very helpful.” After one year of Avi running, Akamai found that new employees who use Avi are 58% more likely to complete their Technical Primer Certification. Additionally, new hires using Avi finished their Technical Primer Certification in 20% less time.
